Boards should expect their fair share of tough decisions, but can Boards improve the quality of their decision making?

Bob Semple, a valued Corporate Governance Institute faculty member and member of their Governance Advisory Council, believes that yes, they can.

In Exercising better (independent) judgement, he provides guidance for directors, based on the latest research (UK and US), addressing:

the importance of applying ‘a growth mindset’
the sorts of problems Boards should be dealing with (and which ones they shouldn’t) discrete elements of better judgement / decision-making
important legislative considerations – and court judgements
pragmatic approaches that can be applied in boards of organisations, large and small Bob will provide insights from his experience as a Chair/Director in Ireland and overseas, as a former PwC partner (specialising in governance and risk) and as an external evaluator of board effectiveness to highlight the areas most likely to enhance decision making/judgement.
