This includes spousal open work permits for spouses of international students and spouses of skilled workers. Anyone who is currently studying in Canada or looking to obtain a Canada study permit or Canada study visa needs to be aware of these changes as they may affect their spouse or common-law partner's ability to obtain an open work permit.

These changes include:
1) There can now only be 1 principal foreign national for a family
2) a requirement for proof of a genuine relationship
3) only spouses of study permit holders who are eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) may apply for the spousal open work permit
