Online Antenatal Course with a difference, part 2: A straightforward birth story
Published at : January 28, 2023
I'm Zana @birthingwithconfidence and this is module 2 of my introductory online antenatal course. My course is currently free to access. If you like what you see or hear in each module, please consider buying me a coffee to show your appreciation by using this link: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/zanaparker Thank you! (please copy/paste if it doesn't work!)
This module is a birth story of a straightforward birth at home. It explains what might be happening, how you might feel in different moments and what you might do. It acknowledges that not all births are straightforward. (More about that in module 3.)
Anyone is welcome to watch, but this course is particularly for you if you're worried about birth.
I'll gently talk you through each module, covering various topics in connection with late pregnancy, birth and recovery. This course is different to other antenatal courses because I acknowledge not all births are positive and I will emphasise the emotional and physical journey to birth. It's not all about learning medical terminology!
You will get the most from this course if you use a personal journal throughout, to help you notice and honour your feelings and reactions, as well as to note any questions arising as you work your way through the course. Journaling will also help you connect more deeply with what's discussed and how it affects you and applies to you. It makes a standard course much more "yours".
If you're currently pregnant I also suggest that you find a Yoga for Pregnancy class if you're able, as this will help you link mind and body more closely and become more aware of what feels right for you, emotionally and physically.
There are no graphic close-up pictures! There is loads of information, discussion of different attitudes, approaches and ways of looking at things. I encourage you to tune into yourself, use self-care if anything is upsetting and track your thoughts, feelings and reactions through journaling. I hope you'll gradually notice what helps you feel more confident and positive, and learn what you need to build on this. Breathing and relaxation is introduced as we go through.
I'm always happy to answer questions and provide information and support where I can. If there's something more in-depth to look at then you're welcome to book an antenatal class or workshop, some regular counselling or some scheduled time to talk, depending on your needs.
I hope you find the somewhat different approach of this course useful.
